Meet Kaylen and Pete. I'll be photographing their wedding in a few months, but for now I've got some engagement photos to share. We got together Sunday on one of those just-warm-enough spring afternoons that just about makes up for all those cold, nasty winter days. The session was a blast, not only because of the weather and the joy of shooting in a new location, but because Kaylen and Pete have such a great dynamic. When it came time for me to step back and let them interact, the resulting photos really shine. I'm looking forward to this wedding, it should have plenty of DIY goodness, as Kaylen is a prolific crafter.

Pete teaches world history to ninth graders at Rosati-Kain. Kaylen is a Rosati alum and is nearing graduation from SLU. It seemed natural to stop by the school for a few photos. Its always fun to step away from the usual suspect locations and shoot somewhere new, especially when it captures something about the couple.

Kaylen and Pete got in some dance practice in the school gym.

Pete taught himself to play the ukulele. He's rocking a soprano in this picture. Pete swears it is an easy instrument to learn. Well, at least easier than the guitar. I'll take his word for it; I couldn't keep a beat to save my life.

Kaylen's engagement ring is a family heirloom — it originally belonged to her great-grandmother.

We made it downtown. The City Museum isn't the only place you can find the work of Bob Cassilly! Such a neat "hidden" treasure.

Great weather for some cloud watching!

Ryan, I love the interaction shots! Especially where he's drawing the hearts, when their on stage, playing the yukalaylee, and looking up at the sky. Nice work! Love seeing your new stuff. :)
