Emily in Webster Groves getting ready before the wedding photos

With the exception of yesterday’s post, I’ve been absent from my blog for two weeks. The horror. Well, I’m back!

I’ve got three weddings in the pipeline, so stay tuned. First up is Emily and Ryan’s wedding. The day started in Webster Groves, with Emily getting ready at her parent’s home.

I’m experimenting with breaking the blog into multiple posts. Let me know if it works for you.

A little too much help

bride and groom
Sometimes when I’m sorting through the 1,000+ photos I took at a wedding, I’ll find a few surprises. Usually, they are reaction shots, frames I fired off while waiting for something else to happen. Like this one, where I was waiting for the bridesmaid to fix Emily’s veil but ended up with a funny photo of a (slightly) distressed bride.

These fleeting moments are occasionally humorous, like the pouting ring bearer currently on my site’s homepage, or celebratory, like this photo that captures the bride’s best friend excitement, but they’re always a treat.

Over the next day or so, I’ll be posting a boatload of photo’s from Emily and Ryan’s wedding. Check back tomorrow for more photo goodness.

Brett + Shawna’s downtown St Louis engagement photo shoot

I met up with Brett and Shawna to shoot their engagement photos on Sunday afternoon. We spent an hour exploring the north end of downtown, starting at Washington/Tucker and working west.

They went to prom together in the Bay City, Mich. area. We tried to avoid recreating any prom poses, hopefully successfully. Enjoy, and leave some love at the end.

Though most of the photos were shot with buildings and such in the background, I couldn't pass up shooting at least a few photos with some nice fall color.

I don’t talk much about my personal life, but this is too great to keep to myself: My college sweetheart, Jamie, accepted my marriage proposal on Sunday evening. I’m the luckiest guy out there.

Shana + Eric’s wedding reception photobooth

St Louis photobooth

Photobooths are always a hit with wedding guests, and Shana and Eric’s friends and family were no exception. Editing the photos was a treat … my assistant was minding the rig and explaining how to use it to the guests, so I didn’t see most of the photos until after we’d packed up and made the trek back to St Louis. Some guests stood rigidly, as if this self-portrait was destined for a middle school yearbook. Most, though, embraced the format. There was leaping, pantimiming and expressions frozen in time, if not on the guests’ faces. Take a minute to send me a note if you’d like to add a photobooth to your wedding package.

Beth + Eric’s downtown St Louis engagement photos

I met up with Beth and Eric for an engagement shoot on Monday afternoon. We had downtown to ourselves because it was Columbus Day, which was nice. We hit up citygarden and a few other spots along Market Street before heading over to Washington Avenue. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding next August!

Amy + Zach’s wedding at Eden Theological Seminary

On Sunday, I photographed Amy and Zach’s wedding at Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves. They’re a really laid-back couple, which made for a fun, stress-free afternoon of events. Their ceremony was outdoors with the reception inside Schroer Commons. Rain was in and out of the forecast, but we were graced with cool, sunny day. Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

Mount Pleasant Winery wedding | Allison + Patrick

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Allison and Patrick’s intimate wedding at the rustic Mount Pleasant Winery in Augusta, Missouri. I shot these two Washington University alums’ engagement photos earlier this year. The ceremony was forced inside by rain, but thankfully Mount Pleasant had a nice indoor backup location. Enjoy and leave a comment.

Meredith + Paul | Larimore Plantation House Wedding

You might remember this happy couple from their Tower Grove engagement photo shoot a few months back. They were graced with amazing weather for their outdoor ceremony at the charming Larimore Plantation House.

Shana + Eric | Centralia wedding

My October wedding season was kicked off by Shana and Eric over in Centralia, Ill. After their simple, sweet ceremony in Centralia, we headed to Foundation Park for a few wedding party photos before heading south to Mt. Vernon for the reception. I spent a good part of the week before fretting about the forecast rain, but it never materialized. Check back soon for photos from the photobooth at the recepetion!
